A thriving art district is important for attracting and maintaining creative people.
A mix of art space, retail and inexpensive living is essential for Omaha’s progressive growth with a flourishing “creative class.”

I know the area North of Cuming street seems to have a very large question mark attached to it. If street car systems are to be used as a tool to drive development more than simply to move people, it seems logical that the downtown streetcar loop would include the area North of Cuming street. There is also room in this area for a major recycling center… the demand for recycling all kinds of materials will obviously increase in the future, so please include a space for this purpose. The arts community typically supports recycling, and an abundance of recycled materials nearby provides low cost “fuel” for creativity.

I love the art scene that has developed in Omaha and will continue to be developed. However, there are so many people in Omaha that don’t know about the arts. Is there any money available to advertise the arts to the people of Omaha? I am not a believer in the streetcar program at this time. The people on the proposed route know quite a bit about downtown Omaha, we need to get to people that are further away from downtown.

Art is like philanthropy, the money is only there once someone dies… again with the “it’s already there” comment. it’s already there. don’t waste money on that. putting a wall for people to draw on will only make kids go paint all the walls they can find. if people want arts, let good old fashioned capitalism put it there.
recycling is a bad idea. and will cost more money that shouldn’t be wasted. it is not helpful, it is not green, it doesn’t affect he amount of trash going into the landfills enough to make it worth while. when someone makes a plastic that will last forever in a landfill, i will invest in that product. as of right now nothing lasts forever in a landfill.
start charging more for parking. and don’t cut off parking meters at 6pm. run them till closing time. that will increase income through direct payment and ticket revenue.
