A thriving art district is important for attracting and maintaining creative people.

A mix of art space, retail and inexpensive living is essential for Omaha’s progressive growth with a flourishing “creative class.”

I know the area North of Cuming street seems to have a very large question mark attached to it. If street car systems are to be used as a tool to drive development more than simply to move people, it seems logical that the downtown streetcar loop would include the area North of Cuming street. There is also room in this area for a major recycling center… the demand for recycling all kinds of materials will obviously increase in the future, so please include a space for this purpose. The arts community typically supports recycling, and an abundance of recycled materials nearby provides low cost “fuel” for creativity.

I love the art scene that has developed in Omaha and will continue to be developed. However, there are so many people in Omaha that don’t know about the arts. Is there any money available to advertise the arts to the people of Omaha? I am not a believer in the streetcar program at this time. The people on the proposed route know quite a bit about downtown Omaha, we need to get to people that are further away from downtown.
